three horror film

The Ring

camera: it starts with the wide shot to get the establishing shot of the location and zooming on the house and then the second shot in the house into the bedroom zooming from wide shot to close medium shot of the characters watching television and deciding what to watch. then the camera slowly zooming to get the close up of the character, close up helps to get the most of fascial to expression and specially to get the clear sound. zooming helps to connect all the shots that were taken as every shot is zooming in the scene to give especial effect.  

editing: dim light adds the dark effect as it is the symbol of scary so its creates scary feeling and sad mood. the branches without leaves gives a haunted atmosphere and the rain creates misery        

mise en scene: the whole scene is in the dim light which shows the scary atmosphere and when they tell the scary story to each other which is the fore coming story for the audience and when they were telling the story the voice is low and in every silence there is storm hidden.  

sound: there is voice over in the first shot, there is hint that the girl is the main character in the movie as she is talking through and voice is connected to the second shot with image of the girl whereas the other girl is sitting there with not many lines to say. 

Saw I

camer: it was dark and when the little light is moving the audience see a close up of one side of the face eyes closed, this could be that it is night and the character is sleeping nut when the light is moving the audiece see the waterand then the whole face in the water suggest that the character is in the bath with no lights on which is unsusal becasue people don't live to have bath with no light it gives creepy feelings. then the character is moving and the water drain way with the light and the character cough which shows that he is out of breath. when he call for help suggest that he here forcefully, when the character scream the audiece now he has hurt himself which also tells the audience that he does not know the place beacuse when you have been or lived in the place for some time you are familier with the things around and there less changes of you hiting into them or banging into them. when the "character say is someone there" it gives a message to the audience that he is not alone. when the light come on it hurt his eyes which tell us that is been long that he is in dark light.  when the other character is shown he was really calm and quite which show that he has been long in there and used to it therefore he is not reacting confuse or scared as the other character. but when the dead body is shown on the floor is very brutal and horror this gives a messege to audience that they are in deep trouble. the sound is non diegetic sound as the charcater moves near to dead body the sound built up to give the sudden feeling.    

Vampire circus
vampire started with bright light in the British countryside in the forest in the long shot the location and the little girl is shown, the costume that she wear shows the era of time it is set,. in the second shot it is a medium shot of a man sitting down which tells that the girl is not alone in the forest. in the beginning the movie starts with bright light whereas the other two movies has used dim lights and the ring and in vampire the woman is leading moving in beginning of the sequence.

director research

A director is a person who directs the actors and the crew in the film and who controls and guides scenes.

Steven Allan Spielberg (born 18 December 1946) is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, video game designer, and studio entrepreneur. 

He has directed many films in his career and his movies are all different. He tried to make every movie as different as possible so the audience does not get bored of his movie, watching the same kind of scene again and again in every movie.  Spielberg won the Academy award for best director for Schindler's List 1993 and Saving Private Ryan 1998. Three of Spielberg's films Jaws 1975, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial 1982, and Jurassic Park (1993) achieved box office records, each becoming the highest-grossing film made at the time.

Spielberg's films often deal with several recurring themes. Most of his films deal with ordinary characters searching for or coming in contact with extraordinary beings or finding themselves in extraordinary circumstances. In an interview in August 2000 Spielberg commented on his interest in the possibility of extra terrestrial life and how it has influenced some of his films. Spielberg described himself as feeling like an alien during childhood, and his interest came from his father, a science fiction fan, and his opinion that aliens would not travel light years for conquest, but instead curiosity and sharing of knowledge.

He has been nominated for six Academy Awards for the category of Best Director, winning two of them Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan, and seven of the films he directed were up for the Best Picture Oscar Schindler's List won.

in the preliminary exercise we did our rough work of the the story and then we took that to next step of finalising. before we start to record our preliminary exercise we did a practice  

opening scene in one shot

the camera is shooting from behind the girl.

the girl running toward  forest, she is running faster and faster and getting out of breath.

the woman breathing deeply and quickly have reached in the forest and comes to stop.

the woman turns to camera with fear on her face and the sweat running

then there is eagle scary sound.

assessment

      How is the chicken used as a metaphor in the opening scene of City of God?

The chicken is used as a metaphor to show the life of the Brazilian common man living the life   under the terror of gangsters. When the chicken is watching other chickens being killed the chicken get scared like any human would to see other human being killed front of their eyes, close-up shot is used to show the emotion, then the chicken thinks of escaping from that place just like a human running away from the danger to save their life. this is showed by when chicken tries to untie itself by straggling with leg. many close-up shots are taken to show the killing of chickens to make it look from the chicken point of as the chicken turns its head right and left.

When the chicken start running, the humans starts to chase the chicken it adds a little humour to the movie for audience to enjoy the scene but if it was a human absconding and the gangsters hunting him/her, it would have been more serious action. It also makes the audience think to treat every life as important as human life even if is an animals and the chicken is compared with Brazilian peoples and their lives as they would be suffering from the gangsters. During the chase, the savage streets of Brazil are showed to create brutal atmosphere in audience mind, as the gansters were pushing the poor people out of their way but none of them react back and it shows that how much terror they have formed in brazilians heart. Many long shots appears to show the streets of brazil and the stage of economy.The chicken also reveals the story line and life of the characters during the opening scene. The chicken tries to fly during the chase but it does not achieve that which suggest that every Brazilian does not achieve to get from the gangster alone. 

There was a little message, it was only one chicken who was chased by the lots of gangsters and even after that the gangsters found very difficult to catch the chicken and if there were few more of the chicken then it would have been impossible chase the chickens and the gangster would have divided themselves to chase the chickens and that means they power would have become weaker, it reflect that if one human stand against them then it is easy to fail one human by lots of opponents but if it was more than one men against all of them, as it would be difficult for gangsters to break them down as they would have divided themselves to chase the nobles, just like they would have done to chase the chickens and this would have weaken their power and then it is easy to destroy there brutal atmosphere that they have created.

there are two character standing opposite each other and there is an imaginary horizontal line called axis between the two characters. keeping the camera on one side of the line connect the characters the first character will always be frame right of the second character, who is then always frame left of the first. if the camera passes over the axis, it is called crossing the line or jumping the line.
